Job Summary
Director - Software Development leading a highly skilled Software & Platform Engineering team to design, build, and maintain a core Data & Machine Learning platform on AWS and Databricks. Responsibilities include platform development, implementing new features for a multi-tenant cloud-based platform, testing/integrating central components, collaborating with other engineering teams to deliver platform enhancements, and upholding security, compliance, and architectural principles. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, 5+ years of software engineering experience, strong microservices, CI/CD (GitHub Actions) and Terraform/IaC expertise, Databricks and AWS data services knowledge, Python proficiency, observability practices, GitHub proficiency, and a proactive, automation-focused, learner mindset. Location: Houston, TX. LI-DNI tag included.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering
- Proven track record of designing and building complex, multi-tenant systems
- Platform & Software Engineering: Deep understanding of modern software engineering principles, platform engineering, and cloud-native design patterns (especially AWS)
- Expertise in microservices architecture (a plus)
- CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, YAML)
- Databricks: Expertise, data lakes and data warehouse architecture
- AWS native data services and cloud architecture
- Python: advanced knowledge of object-oriented principles
- Terraform: advanced knowledge and extensive experience in building IaaC systems
- Observability: monitoring, logging, alerting best practices
- Source Control: GitHub
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and engineering excellence mindset
- Automation over manual processes
- Learner’s mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies
- Expertise in Terraform and Python
