Job Summary
Directs software development strategy and leadership for mission-critical systems, overseeing a team of internal and external developers. Responsible for aligning technology direction with business priorities, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring high-quality delivery of software architectures and applications. Drives agile methodologies, oversees system roadmaps, and ensures maintainability, reliability, and extensibility across enterprise platforms. Requires deep experience in Guidewire Insurance Suite, strong architectural vision, hands-on leadership, and excellent communication with stakeholders. On-site in Sarasota or Orlando with no remote option; Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and 10+ years in IT/leadership are required with Master’s preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in management information systems, computer science, or equivalent (required); Master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in information technology, technical applications, information systems, or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in managing people, processes, and tools
- 6+ years of experience in programming languages such as Java, ASP.NET, C#.NET or similar technology
- Advanced knowledge of the software development lifecycle and related practices
- Experience with Guidewire’s Insurance Suite (Policy Center, Billing Center, Claims Center) a plus
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication skills
- Experience with modern web development technologies (front-end and back-end) using .NET, Visual Studio, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery, SQL Server
- Experience in web integration (HTTP, SOAP, JSON, XML, RESTful API)
- Ability to drive architecture and design for large, complex software solutions
- AGILE development experience
- Ability to work independently and in a team; capable of leading a team during development lifecycle
- Experience with project management concepts and tools
- Proven track record delivering software systems on time and under pressure
- Licenses/Certifications: Certified in Guidewire Configuration highly desirable
- Property and Casualty insurance experience preferred
