Job Summary

Senior Credit Officer for ING's Transaction Approval & Advice (TA&A) in New York. Responsible for executing client transactions from origination to closing and managing the credit risk of an assigned portfolio. Serves as the primary front-office contact for the SCO portfolio, offering deep specialized knowledge of sectors, markets and/or products, while safeguarding the bank's risk appetite. Focuses on the Energy portfolio, operates as a second-line of defense Director-level role reporting to the Head of TA&A – New York. Responsibilities include credit exposure approval, advising on credit decisions, portfolio monitoring, directing Quarterly Portfolio Review and Watchlist meetings, completing Risk Ratings, developing and aligning credit risk policies with global frameworks, and supporting sustainability/climate initiatives. Collaborates with Front Office, Credit Administration, internal audit (SOX) and external regulators. Qualifications include 10+ years in Wholesale Banking with credit risk management duties, project finance experience in Energy/TMT/Infrastructure, strong credit analysis, regulatory knowledge, ISDA negotiation, and excellent communication in English. Education requirement is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Law or related field.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ experience within Wholesale Banking, which may include front office and support roles providing exposure to credit risk management duties
  • Ample experience in originating and executing bespoke project finance structured transactions within the Energy, TMT, Infrastructure sector
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Law or a closely related field
  • Excellent credit analysis skills
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant credit risk management processes, systems and concepts
  • Excellent knowledge and following of regulatory process affecting lending, capital requirements and compliance matters
  • Working knowledge of counterparty and market risk and non-financial risk
  • Working knowledge of financial markets products including interest rate, commodity and FX derivative products, ISDA terms and negotiation
  • Logical and well-reasoned level of thinking
  • Excellent communication skills, and fluent in English
