Director, SAP APFA Platform Lead

Job Summary
Lead the design, configuration, and rollout of the SAP APFA platform by translating business requirements into detailed SAP configurations for chart of accounts, posting rules, and reporting structures. Own the technical setup of the SAP platform, including custom development, workflows, and enhancements, while validating functional configurations through prototyping and testing. Manage SAP configuration squads across multiple entities, assigning tasks, setting delivery milestones, and mentoring functional consultants to ensure alignment with global design standards and enterprise architecture. Collaborate with data migration, integration, and reporting teams to support system interfaces and validate data mapping. This role supports RBC's Finance IT function, which manages over 100 production applications for the CFO group. The position requires 8+ years of experience in large-scale Finance ERP implementations within financial services.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of configuration and platform setup experience in large-scale Finance ERP implementations, ideally within financial services
- Deep functional expertise in Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets for large global banks
- Strong understanding of financial accounting principles (multi-GAAP, consolidations, reconciliations)
- Demonstrated experience managing SAP configuration squads and overseeing technical setup/custom development
- Hands-on experience with SAP reports, workflows, and platform customization
- Experience working with integration, reporting, and data migration teams on SAP programs

- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, influencing senior executives and building relationships with diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead geographically dispersed teams of consultants, developers, and integration specialists in global financial services environments
- Knowledge of architecture aspects (business, data, cyber security), SDLC lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and prior experience working with global/distributed teams
- Holds undergraduate and/or post-graduate degree (preferably in Business or Finance)
