Director, RN Medical Surgical

Banner Health seeks an experienced Nursing Director to lead the Medical-Surgical service line at a major Arizona facility. The role provides strategic leadership and administration in patient care, education, safety and quality, leveraging a shared governance model to empower staff, drive improvement initiatives, and partner with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include creating and executing planning structures to optimize outcomes, ensuring financial and human resource alignment, advancing evidence-based nursing practice, and integrating innovation to improve patient care and safety. The director will oversee clinical operations, clinician and patient/family education, customer service, and regulatory compliance, while maintaining a professional practice environment and sustaining collaborations with facility and system leaders. The position emphasizes leadership in recruitment and retention, performance management, data-driven problem solving, and achieving identified strategic targets across nursing services. The role requires a BSN or MSN (per policy), an RN license, BLS, and a track record of leading complex clinical operations with strong communication and change-management skills.
