Job Summary

Director of Cardiovascular Institute of the South RCM Operations provides executive leadership over all revenue cycle management operations for the CIS group practice, with accountability for RCM results, payer relations, denial management, and billing and collections workflow integrity. This hybrid role leads CIS RCM day-to-day operations, mentors staff, collaborates with Athena implementation on workflow design and data migration, and supports business transformation to AthenaOne. The position partners with senior leadership and reports to the VP of RCM, with a future transition into the Director of RCM Support role for the Cardiovascular Logistics platform, overseeing platform-wide RCM systems, vendor relationships, and enterprise-wide infrastructure. The role is located in LA with hybrid work arrangements in Greater Houma, Lafayette, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, or Thibodaux. Responsibilities include KPI monitoring (AR days, AR >120, net collection rate, denial rate, clean claim rate), staff development, denial management and appeals, payer relationships, credentialing coordination, and ensuring compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and internal policies; involvement in Athena implementation and enterprise-wide process standardization. Qualifications emphasize a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, extensive RCM leadership experience, AthenaOne familiarity, and preferred CPC/CRCR credentials.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7 years of RCM experience in ambulatory multi-specialty or physician group healthcare setting; cardiovascular or cardiology group experience a plus
  • Minimum 3 years of director-level or senior leadership experience in ambulatory revenue cycle management
  • Demonstrated experience with RCM platforms and EHR/PM systems; Athena Health (athenaOne) experience strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of payer billing requirements, denial management strategies, and collections processes in a physician group environment
  • Proficient in RCM analytics and reporting tools; ability to interpret KPI trends and translate data into operational action
  • Experience leading RCM workflow design, process improvement, and operational infrastructure build
  • CPC, CRCR, or equivalent coding/billing certification preferred but not required
