Job Summary
Direct the overall operation of the Residential Services Department, overseeing administrative oversight, operational effectiveness, and regulatory alignment for the 24/7 residential treatment program serving children ages 5-13. Direct, hire, supervise, and evaluate residential leadership staff including Unit Managers and Night Supervisors, ensuring consistent management coverage across shifts and adherence to required staff-to-child ratios. Ensure units operate safely and in compliance with licensing, accreditation, and CARE/TCI philosophies while maintaining budget and training compliance. Partner with clinical services and school leadership to integrate treatment and monitor student outcomes, representing the department on leadership teams and facilitating cross-functional collaboration. Conduct post-restraint debriefings to drive continuous improvement and lead special projects assigned by the Associate Administrator. Work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Behavioral Science, or related field
- Five (5) years' experience in a residential treatment environment
- Five (5) years' supervisory experience
- LCPC or LCSW license in good standing in the state of MD
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training within 45 days of hire and Children and Residential Experiences (CARE) training within six (6) months of hire and maintained thereafter
- CPR/First Aid within 45 days of hire and maintained thereafter
- Demonstrates sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism in all interactions, maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and trust in sensitive and high-stakes situations
- Demonstrates strong leadership and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and guide staff while fostering accountability, teamwork, and a positive work environment
- Applies critical thinking, sound decision-making, and effective problem-solving skills to address operational, staffing, and programmatic challenges in a timely and informed manner
- Utilizes effective conflict resolution skills to address concerns constructively, strengthen working relationships, and maintain a safe and productive environment
- Demonstrates exceptional planning, organization, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing demands, delegate effectively, and ensure work is completed efficiently and accurately
- Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to support collaboration, leadership presence, and consistent follow-through across teams and stakeholders
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer systems and standard business software required to perform job functions, including Windows-based applications, web browsers, Microsoft Outlook, and preferred proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive
- This position requires an on-site presence based on the core and essential functions of the role
- Works a flexible schedule and has a regular, ongoing presence on various shifts, including evenings and weekends
- Adjusting or moving objects up to 20 lbs. in all directions, which may include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or repositioning items as necessary to perform job duties
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or transitioning between different work sites, which may involve walking, standing, or traveling to various locations as required by the role
- Engaging in communication with others to exchange information, which may involve speaking, listening, writing, or using electronic communication methods to ensure clear and effective understanding. This includes both verbal and non-verbal interactions with colleagues, clients, or external parties
