Job Summary
Lead the Meijer Real Estate team in acquiring store sites, negotiating with property owners and developers, and coordinating approvals for new stores and the sale/development of excess property. Responsibilities include participating in the 5-year store opening plan, developing long-range growth strategy, supervising Real Estate staff, traveling to market areas to evaluate locations (availability, property values, access, zoning, development obstacles, timing), defining proposed trade areas for existing/new stores, securing information for site submittal packets, presenting to the Real Estate Committee, conducting market research (population, incomes, growth, competition, sales potential), and obtaining governmental approvals to develop Meijer retail and gas/convenience stores.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years' experience in a Big Box retail real estate environment
- strong supervisory, organizational, analytical, written and communicative skills
- ability to travel and manage complex site acquisitions and negotiations
