Job Summary

Director, Oncology Public Affairs at Johnson & Johnson will lead the development and execution of strategic public affairs and advocacy initiatives in support of the U.S. Oncology business. Embedded within the business and partnering with brand, market access, Government Affairs and policy teams, this leader will identify and advance opportunities that strengthen the external environment for in-market portfolio and pipeline, focusing on initiatives that support business priorities, patient access, and long-term growth. The role requires building strong networks with advocacy organizations, professional societies and other stakeholders to shape external environment and align support on issues important to the business and patients, while anticipating and managing sensitive issues with sound judgment. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing public affairs strategies to enable faster and broader patient access, shaping policy positions relevant to patient access and portfolio growth, leveraging enterprise platforms to strengthen Johnson & Johnson’s voice on oncology policy priorities, and sustaining cross-functional relationships across Oncology Communications, Government Affairs & Policy, Enterprise Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, and Strategic Customer Group. Qualifications emphasize a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent), at least 10 years of relevant experience in public affairs/policy communications/advocacy, strong writing and executive-facing communication skills, ability to engage with external partners and internal stakeholders, and familiarity with pricing policy considerations. Travel up to 25% is anticipated.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required
  • Minimum of 10 years professional experience
  • Experience in public affairs, politics, policy communications, advocacy
  • Strong communications skills, including engaging with executive leadership
  • Strong writing and messaging ability
  • Experience with external affairs development and execution
  • Broad understanding of pricing policy and standards in engaging policymakers and KOLs
  • Ability to develop relationships externally and internally
  • Ability to engage with business partners, understand commercial and business strategy and support that strategy through public affairs.
