Job Summary
Develop and execute government relations strategies to influence legislation and regulations at Texas state and local levels. Track proposed bills, draft policy briefs and impact reports, and represent the company in industry coalitions to advocate for data center interests. Build relationships with political figures, community leaders, and industry counterparts while leading grassroots advocacy campaigns and coordinating community outreach initiatives. Prepare testimony, white papers, and talking points to educate policymakers on the role of data centers and AI infrastructure. Ensure lobbying activities comply with applicable laws and file necessary disclosure reports. Manage outside counsel and support legislative teams as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 4 to 6 years experience in government affairs, public affairs or advocacy
- Strong understanding of data centers, utility regulation, electricity markets, economic development, local/state governments or related experience
- Comprehensive understanding of Texas government, legislative/administrative processes, and key state/local funding or regulatory mechanisms
- Juris Doctor (J. D.), Master of Public Administration (MPA) or Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Communications, or related field
- Deep understanding of local governance, policy processes, and regulatory frameworks
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Network of contacts within the local legislative and regulatory community
- Ability to analyze data and respond quickly
Desired Qualifications
- Prior work in Texas serving as a legislative staffer, agency official, or campaign manager
