Director, Property Accounting VMC

Director, Property Accounting leads the end-to-end property accounting function for a defined portfolio, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting and driving process improvement, scalability, and operational excellence. Partners with Property Management, Asset Management, and Finance leadership to deliver high-quality financial information, enhance processes, and build a high-performing team aligned with growth objectives. Responsibilities include managing monthly/quarterly/annual close, revenue recognition, CAM recoveries, property tax billings, journal entries and reconciliations, year-end processes, budgeting and forecasting (operating budgets, reforecasts, cash flow), variance analysis and NOI drivers, identifying efficiency and control improvements, supporting acquisitions/dispositions/refinancing, leading system implementations and automation (e.g., Yardi, Power BI, Excel analytics), and developing Accounting Managers and staff through coaching and performance feedback. Requires collaboration across departments, strong leadership, business acumen, attention to detail, and a technology-enabled mindset to standardize reporting and scale portfolio growth.
