Job Summary
Director of Projects to lead Stay-in-Business underground mining projects ranging from $1.5 million to $10 million, focused on enhancing underground productivity through optimization of productivity rates, fleet utilization, and material handling operations. Responsibilities include guiding feasibility studies, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and handover; championing integration of underground technologies such as Fleet Management Systems (FMS) and Ventilation-on-Demand (VoD); managing multi-disciplinary teams (internal staff, consultants, contractors, EPCM partners, execution companies); ensuring compliance with safety and company standards; delivering on-time, within-scope, and budget; overseeing site procurement, contract management, budgets, and multi-year capital expenditure estimates; providing monthly forecasts and financial reporting; coordinating HSE plans and stakeholder relationships; ensuring operational readiness and smooth hand-over to operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline is required.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Project Management or Mining disciplines are highly preferred.
- Professional registration or certification with an internationally recognized project management association is advantageous.
- Experience, Skills & Competencies: A minimum of 15 years’ progressive hands-on and leadership experience in a mining operational environment, managing project delivery and construction.
