Job Summary
Director, Product Development (Tokyo Creation Centre): Lead and grow a small development team in the Tokyo Creation Centre; ensure development and Buy Ready on time for all TCC models; drive adherence to the I2C process and timeline; collaborate across Supply Chain, Design, Merchandising, Product Operations, and People & Culture to build out the creation office and development team in Tokyo; verify sourcing strategy with global sourcing/costing teams; establish quality control standards with HQ Quality for pre-seasonal raw materials and product development; train new factory resources to meet Arc’teryx brand standards; support cross-functional teams to execute the design vision and manage the I2C calendar; manage organizational capacity and workload across functions; partner with Product team leads to ensure adequate resources for seasonal requirements; drive KPI reporting for TCC models; travel to domestic and offshore vendors/manufacturers as needed; participate in future vendor engagement, strengthen vendor relations, and optimize prototype turnaround timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Apparel or Textile Design, Technology, Merchandising, or Engineering
- 10+ years’ experience in a design, development, or production environment
- 8+ years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of raw materials, technical construction, and sourcing/costing
- Experience communicating with and traveling to domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers
- Willingness and ability to travel to Hong Kong, Vancouver, and factories across Asia as required
- Understanding of the product lifecycle from ideation to consumer, including production attributes
- Strong knowledge of Arc’teryx products and apparel processes
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders
- Clear vision development, team alignment, and commitment fosterment
- Proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
