Job Summary
Director, Product Design leading two designers in a fast-paced D2C fintech environment. Owns hands-on design work while shaping the customer experience, product strategy, and design system evolution. Partners with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to deliver a unified brand experience, leveraging AI to speed exploration and delivery, and contributing to strategy and roadmaps. Responsibilities include keeping the design human-centered across journeys, conducting research-to-launch design arc, refining critique processes, and ensuring clear disclosures and fallbacks. Requires strong data-informed product thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and a track record of shipping high-quality work in collaboration with Product and Engineering. Hybrid NYC-based role with a base salary range of $171,000–$255,000.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in a fast-paced D2C product design environment
- Senior product design leadership with end-to-end product sense and systems thinking
- Proven ability to ship great work with Product and Engineering
- Strong collaboration across Engineering, Product, and Marketing
- Ability to leverage quantitative data, behavioral insights, experimentation results, and customer signals to inform design decisions
- Experience using Figma and Jira as core tools
- Experience and excitement about leveraging AI to improve design efficiency and process (e.g., Claude Design, Cursor)
- Strong communication and ability to gain buy-in for design decisions
- Ability to manage two designers and carry IC ownership on key work
- Extremely ownership mindset and ability to set and raise the bar for the team
- UX rooted in fintech or regulated consumer experience is a plus
- Experience owning user research and applying insights thoughtfully
