Director, Procurement & APEX Operations

$100,000–$125,000 year

On-siteLondon, Ontario, Canada

Full TimeSenior LevelSmall

Job Summary

Oversee APEX fabrication, warehouse, and logistics operations while owning the P&L, budget, and profitability through labor productivity and material yield management. Lead strategic sourcing for national supply agreements across pipe, fittings, and valves, negotiating pricing tiers and rebate programs with key suppliers. Manage the procurement ERP module, enforce purchasing authorization matrices, and drive continuous improvement in production scheduling and inventory governance. Champion a zero-incident safety culture, oversee JHSC representation, and mitigate supply chain risks through demand forecasting and market intelligence. Report monthly performance variances to the COO and ensure all products meet NFPA and customer specification standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 8–13 years of progressive leadership experience in fire protection, mechanical, or industrial contracting, with meaningful strategic procurement or supply chain exposure
  • Demonstrated experience managing a fabrication shop or prefabrication operation with P&L accountability
  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing and supplier contract negotiation — national pricing agreements, rebate structures, and multi-year supply deals
  • Deep ERP fluency covering both procurement/inventory modules and production/operations reporting
  • Post-secondary education in engineering technology, operations management, supply chain, or a related discipline

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience designing or supporting a distributed purchasing model, where branch teams manage day-to-day buying within centrally governed parameters, is a significant asset
  • Knowledge of fire protection materials (pipe, fittings, grooved couplings, sprinkler components) strongly preferred
  • Safety leadership experience including JHSC or equivalent health & safety program management
  • SCMP designation or equivalent is an asset
  • CFAA/NFSA credentials are a significant advantage
