Job Summary
The Director of Principal Gifts at Scripps Research is responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 50 principal gift prospects and donors with the capacity to make gifts of $5 million and above. The role involves developing personalized engagement and solicitation strategies, advancing prospects through the fundraising cycle, facilitating donor experiences, and collaborating with leadership on funding opportunities. Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of major gift fundraising experience, with a proven ability to cultivate and close large gifts. Strong communication, strategic thinking, and project management skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 8+ years of experience in major gift fundraising
- Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing principal gifts
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work effectively with senior institutional leadership
- Strong strategic thinking and project management skills
- Experience using donor databases and CRM systems
- Willingness and ability to travel
