Job Summary
Director, Portfolio Insights leads high-impact strategic projects for AbbVie’s R&D portfolio, driving value metrics, PTRS insights, cross-TA prioritization of capital allocation, and benchmarking analyses. Responsibilities include shaping strategic initiatives (e.g., Quarterly Portfolio Prioritization process enhancements), refining valuation methodologies, promoting data-driven decision-making, and delivering executive narratives for leadership reviews. Core capabilities span strategic initiative leadership, cross-functional analytics, value assessment with metrics like raNPV and Productivity Index, and democratization of data through dashboards. Requires a Bachelor’s in a scientific or business field with strong analytical skills, experience in R&D strategy/portfolio prioritization, and the ability to collaborate with Finance, PPM, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Statistics, and other partners; advanced degrees and 8+ years of relevant experience strongly preferred. Excellent communication, project management, and executive-level presentation skills are essential. The role involves leading complex strategic initiatives, optimizing capital allocation, and driving enterprise thinking with a data-driven mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business field required
- Advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, PhD, MD, MBA) highly preferred
- Prior experience in management consulting, with a track record in R&D strategy/portfolio prioritization projects, strongly preferred
- Preferred years of experience: 8+ with a Bachelor’s, 6+ with a Master’s, or 4+ with a Doctorate
