Job Summary
Directs and performs maintenance program planning for the Duval County School Board's district facilities; oversees Plant Services staff, including recruitment, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, and performance evaluation; develops and monitors cost, backlog, preventive maintenance, and repair projections; estimates craft labor and material needs; writes specifications for contracted services and inspects work for compliance and efficiency; conducts school inspections to set work priorities; ensures health, safety, and environmental regulatory compliance; provides management reporting and recommendations for improvements; coordinates cross-craft activities and evaluates production quality; facilitates meetings and supports budgeting and scheduling of maintenance functions; drives continuous improvement across plant services operations.
Required Qualifications
- Five (5) years experience managing, supervising, and/or coordinating facility maintenance, repair and construction functions and projects
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred from an accredited college or university (education may be substituted with high school diploma or GED as noted in posting)
- Knowledge of state of Florida policies, rules, regulations, and statutes related to plant services
- Knowledge of maintenance and mechanical procedures
- Knowledge of human resource policies and procedures
- Knowledge of current and best practices for modern building service techniques
- Knowledge of principals of major building construction and mechanical trades
- Strong supervisory management skills
- Ability to motivate and manage diverse teams
- Ability to meet timelines
- Ability to design workflows and procedures
- Ability to implement continuous improvement processes
