Job Summary
Director – Pharmacometrics AI Lead responsible for shaping and executing a multi-year transformation to integrate AI/ML into quantitative pharmacology workflows (MIDD). Lead a pharmacometrics team, identify scalable AI/ML use cases to accelerate development timelines, evaluate emerging AI/ML technologies, transition pilots to enterprise-scale solutions, and partner with IT and strategy offices to implement robust AI capabilities. Drive adoption through training and upskilling, foster a culture of innovation, oversee external collaborations (industry, academia, technology providers), and maintain awareness of evolving AI/ML tools and their application to pharmacometric workflows. Requires a Ph.D. with substantial pharmacometrics experience, leadership in applying AI/ML to drug development, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and guide strategic direction. Proficient in PK/PD, disease modeling, dose–response, trial simulation, MIDD principles, and modern analytics ecosystems; hands-on experience with Python/R/Matlab and ML frameworks; strong communication and strategic thinking to impact portfolio decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. with at least 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical drug development or related field
- deep hands-on expertise in pharmacometrics (e.g., population PK and PK/PD analyses, model-based meta-analysis, dose–response and exposure–response analyses, disease modeling, trial simulation, optimal study designs)
- experience applying AI/ML methods in drug development with demonstrated examples (publications, projects)
- leadership experience in scaling digital solutions from pilot to enterprise deployment
- strong knowledge of regulatory expectations and the evolving role of AI/ML in clinical development
- strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and external partners
- experience with AI tools and programming languages (Python/R/Matlab; TensorFlow/PyTorch)
- ability to craft executive-level narratives and influence senior stakeholders
- experience with cloud platforms and data architectures
- ability to initiate and manage external collaborations with academia, industry, and technology providers
- willingness to participate in enterprise AI/ML efforts and contribute to strategic planning
