Job Summary
Director, Packaging Engineering to own the design, development, and commercialization of packaging across the product portfolio. Lead packaging strategy, roadmap, and standards; drive trials with co-manufacturers and suppliers; manage supplier relationships and regulatory compliance; build and mentor a high-performing packaging engineering team; partner with Product Development, Brand, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure packaging meets retailer requirements and supports launches. Role requires 4-5 in-office days per week in NYC and travel up to 30-50% domestically. 5+ years of packaging engineering experience and leadership capabilities are expected.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of packaging engineering experience
- leadership experience in packaging engineering
- experience with packaging trials and validation
- ability to manage relationships with external packaging suppliers, print vendors, and contract manufacturers
- ability to ensure packaging meets food safety, regulatory, and retailer requirements
- ability to lead and develop a packaging engineering team
- strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- ability to translate technical constraints for non-technical stakeholders
- willingness to travel up to 30-50% domestically
- facility to work in an in-office environment 4-5 days a week in NYC
- ability to drive strategic direction for packaging across a product portfolio
