Job Summary
Director Urban Transport (Active Travel, Urban Roads and Bus Connects) in Ireland leads and manages the Urban Transport activity, ensuring development of the activity and sustainable profitability. Supervises the execution of urban transport projects in Ireland, ensuring on-time, in-budget delivery and contract compliance. Builds and leads a high-performing team; applies standards, regulations, and best practices to project planning and delivery. Cultivates and maintains strong client relationships to tailor consultancy services; ensures quality assurance and implements quality control processes. Manages project budgets, financial forecasts, and resource allocation; collaborates with government agencies, industry partners, and regulatory bodies to facilitate approvals and compliance. Regular project reporting to the UK & Ireland Roads and Active Travel Director and clients; identifies opportunities for business growth through proposal and bid efforts. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s in civil engineering or Transportation Engineering (Master’s preferred), Chartered Engineer (CEng), and 15+ years in civil/roads/transport infrastructure with a proven delivery record. Strong leadership, communication, and financial management skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) with Engineers Ireland or equivalent recognised professional body
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, roads, or transport infrastructure
- Proven track record of successfully delivering infrastructure projects
- Strong business development skills with a history of winning and developing design and engineering work
- Exceptional leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Financial acumen and experience in project budget management
