Job Summary
Provide executive leadership for all district transportation services, developing long-range strategic plans and establishing measurable KPIs for safety, routing efficiency, and compliance. Direct safe and efficient operations by overseeing routing, scheduling, and extracurricular transportation while coordinating services for special education, athletics, and summer programs. Manage the transportation budget, procure equipment, and oversee fleet maintenance, preventive inspections, and inventory. Implement transportation accommodations for students with disabilities, respond to after-hours emergencies, and lead staff development through recruitment and mentorship. Present reports to the Superintendent and Board of Trustees, build community relationships, and support district emergency planning.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Must be able to work independently as well as on a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated, organized, reliable, adaptable
- Ability to work with parents and children
- Skill in communication and use of computer equipment, including emergency and dispatcher radios
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, including drug testing
- Effective routing
- Fleet maintenance
- Parts/inventory management
- Quality principles
- Driving record must meet both the State's point requirements and the District's standard for driving district vehicles
- Must have satisfactory performance in the District's safety training program
- Must pass the DOT/District's Physical Examination yearly
- Two years of supervisory experience with public school transportation operations, fleet maintenance, routing, budgeting, personnel, technology, and special education transportation

- Texas Association for Pupil Transportation Certification (TAPT)
- ASE School Bus Certification
- Texas School Bus Driver Certification
- Bilingual in English & Spanish
