Job Summary
Director of Technology responsible for administering and refining district-wide technology operations, developing and implementing the Long Range Technology Plan, overseeing deployment and refresh cycles of hardware and software, managing budgeting, grants (including e-Rate), and data management, and coordinating communication within the technology department and with ISBE and the Board of Education. Leads policy development for hardware/software/network use, evaluates products/vendors, and recommends equipment and professional development. Guides cybersecurity initiatives, instructional technology integration, data warehousing, and district programming; develops inventories of software, hardware, and licensing; assists with grant planning and proposal writing; ensures confidentiality of electronic records and student data; and leads the technology team to support district goals and long-term instructional objectives. Requires significant instructional technology leadership, a principal endorsement on a PEL, and eligibility to work as a school principal.
Required Qualifications
- Significant experience with integrated and innovative use of instructional technology
- Demonstrated ability to observe, evaluate, and provide feedback to the technology team
- An instructional leader who has completed a principal preparation program with a principal or general administrative endorsement on a Professional Educator License (PEL) and is eligible to work as a school principal

- Experience in policy development for hardware, software, and network use
- Strong leadership and communication skills to interface with ISBE and the Board of Education
- Experience with grant planning and proposal writing
- Familiarity with school district technology integration strategies and curriculum development
- Proficiency in website, app, and social media communications management
- Experience with vendor selection and outside funding acquisition
- Ability to oversee compliance and confidentiality of sensitive student and staff information
- Ability to oversee technology department staff and performance evaluations
- Experience with IT governance, procurement, and vendor management
- Strong background in instructional technology and district-wide technology planning
