Job Summary
Director of Tax leads the worldwide income tax function for Valvoline Global Operations, overseeing income tax compliance, audits, reporting, and forecasting; supervises global tax service providers and internal teams, coordinates with regional finance to review and submit corporate income tax returns, and provides strategic oversight for the tax provision under ASC 740/IFRS; drives SOX control compliance and informs changes to controls framework; analyzes changes in US and foreign tax laws, collaborates with global finance to improve quarterly/annual reporting, and supports tax planning opportunities, acquisitions, and divestitures. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA and/or Master’s Degree in Taxation preferred) with 10-15 years of income tax experience and proficiency in tax software (ONESOURCE), SAP, and related tools; strong leadership, communication, and project-management skills. Location preference is Lexington, KY, with in-office schedule (3 days/week) or semi-local arrangements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
- Minimum of 10-15 years of income tax experience managing and developing a diverse group of tax professionals
- Expertise in complex federal and international tax concepts applicable to corporations
- Experience with ASC 740 preparation and analysis
- Significant experience in managing and preparing income tax returns both in the US and abroad
- US state and local tax experience
- Experience with tax research software (e.g., CCH, BNA)
- Experience with tax compliance and provision software (ONESOURCE)
- SAP skills a plus
- Strong MS Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong project management skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
