Job Summary
Director of Supply Chain to lead strategic planning and execution across procurement, acquisition, and distribution of raw materials and outside services for multi-site operations. Responsibilities include designing systems to optimize inventory, manage lead times, and drive growth; leading contract negotiations; developing supplier diversification and strategic partnerships; monitoring market trends and supplier performance; managing an annual spend of $100M-$300M; establishing and maintaining KPIs; coordinating with Sales, Inventory Control, Production Control, and Operations; enabling timely product availability; and traveling for on-site vendor visits to verify capabilities and processes.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in Operations/Business/Supply Chain Management or technical discipline
- 7-10 years of progressive purchasing/sourcing experience in manufacturing
- 2-4 years experience in metals industry
- Knowledge of steelmaking processes, metallurgy, forging, heat-treating, machining, NDE, metrology
- ERP/MRP knowledge; JD Edwards preferred
- ISM (C.P.M., CPSM) and/or APICS (CPIM, CIRM, CSCP) preferred
- Strong business understanding in metals industry; financial concepts (cash flow, margins, ROI)
- Continuous improvement skills; project management; leadership abilities
- Excellent communication skills; MS Office proficiency
- Ability to work safely in heavy manufacturing environment
