Job Summary
Direct the District's Student Services and special education programs, providing leadership, strategic vision, and oversight to enable all students to access appropriate educational opportunities. Manage day-to-day operations of the Student Services Department in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, supervise staff, oversee referrals, placement, home instruction for homebound or hospitalized students, budgeting and expenditures, records, attendance reporting, transportation coordination, and liaison activities with families and external agencies. Lead policy development, program evaluation, and continuous improvement of student services initiatives, while maintaining confidentiality and collaborating with administrators, staff, parents, and the community to ensure all students receive equitable opportunities and access to education.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a current TSPC administrator license with appropriate credentials
- Possess a Master’s degree in special education or related field
- Have at least five successful years’ experience as a teacher in special education or related area of study
- Ability to maintain and verify completeness of records, meet schedules and deadlines
- Ability to perform work in a self-directed manner
- Ability to use judgment in the analysis of facts and circumstances surrounding individual problems in determining and prioritizing the necessary actions
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with all levels of administration, staff members, students, parents and the general public
- Must respect confidential information
- Genuine enjoyment and understanding of children and awareness of general purposes and goals of public education
- Willingness to operate according to policies and procedures
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
- Current TSPC administrator license with appropriate special education credentials
- Possess and maintain a valid First Aid card if required
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
- Valid state driver’s license
