Job Summary
Director of Student Advising role overseeing the Student Advising Division within Student Support Services across campus locations, including Chicago and DC. Leads strategic planning and staff development for student-centered academic support, retention initiatives, and collaboration with Registrar and other departments to monitor progress, data, and outcomes. Requires a Master’s degree, 3+ years leadership in academic advising or student success, and proven ability to manage large teams, drive retention, and deliver effective student support in a fast-paced higher education environment. Primary duties include leadership, program development, data analysis, strategic forecasting, and cross-department collaboration to support degree completion and student success. Compensation $70,000-$80,000; in-person presence 3-4 days per week at Chicago campus with potential involvement at other locations.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree required
- Minimum 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in academic advising or student success programs
- Proven track record in leading large teams and managing complex programs
- Experience with training and customer service
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: strong writing, interpersonal, and technological skills; MS Office proficiency
- Experience with student information systems – CampusVue
- Experience with Excel and SPSS
- Some evening and weekend work around start times
- Master’s degree or 6+ years of relevant experience required
- Minimum of 5 years of student retention focused experience in a higher education setting
- Experience working with online population and/or remote users
- Demonstrated success in implementation and improvement of student retention
- Demonstrated experience in managing a high level of work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work independently in service-oriented environment
