Job Summary
Manage, develop, and direct the overall operation of the nursing department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards. Review scheduling and staffing to ensure daily PPD requirements are met while coordinating with the Administrator to recruit and select nursing staff. Plan and coordinate orientation programs, in-service education, and on-the-job training, partnering with department directors to provide relevant trainings. Develop reports, maintain records, and reference manuals pertinent to in-service training programs. Participate in the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committee and provide patient care when directed. Follow infection and control policies, oversee the facility's Infection Prevention Program and Antibiotic Stewardship program, and report any occupational exposures immediately. Keep abreast of new state and federal regulations as they pertain to skilled nursing. Attend meetings and serve on committees.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of LVN or RN training from accredited school or college
- Valid LVN or RN license in good standing
- Valid DSD certificate
- Valid CPR and BLS card
- Minimum of 1 year in the role as a DSD
- Must be able to speak, read, write and comprehend the English language
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to read fine print on tablet, progress notes and/or medical labels
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with PCC a plus
