Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer

Job Summary

Oversee the sports medicine program by managing schedules for assistant and graduate assistant athletic trainers, coordinating NCAA drug testing, and liaising with contracted partners. Directly support student athletes and coaches by evaluating injury returns, obtaining medical history forms, and educating staff on prohibited substances. Manage the sports medicine budget, order supplies, and verify insurance coverage while attending NCAA and conference meetings as needed. Provide full-time coverage for practices and games with occasional travel for athletic events. This role reports to the Director of Athletics and requires a Master's degree, ACT certification, and athletic training experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree
  • ACT certification
  • Athletic training experience
  • Mobility and ability to lift equipment or other items of 50 pounds
  • Hearing well enough to communicate with students and co-workers
  • Visual ability to drive, read and use a computer
  • Cognitive/Emotional ability to critically think and concentrate

  • Affirm an understanding, and not advocate against, the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
  • Affirm understanding of the University's Statement on Human Flourishing
