Job Summary
Director of Special Education (SPED) coordinates PK-12 programs and resources for students with special needs, including academic, behavioral/emotional, and physical/medical considerations. Leads planning, development, and implementation of all grants and initiatives from the Student Services Department; oversees Special Education, Talented and Gifted, homeless-student resources, school nurses, behavior specialists, testing specialists, family services, and Alternative Education; serves as District 504 Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, and TAG Coordinator; acts as Title IX and Foster Care liaison; ensures compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and ADA; supervises staff and manages budgets, reporting, and program documentation; conducts in-service training and collaborates with principals and district administrators to implement individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and district-wide services.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in special education, educational administration or related field.
- Possess a valid Oregon Administrator License.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible and highly successful special education leadership experience preferred.
- Experience providing services under and training in the IDEA, Section 504 and the ADA.
