Job Summary
Director of Software Engineering - Payments Technology at JPMorgan Chase in Singapore leading a technical area within Payments Technology. Responsible for partner alignment with business/product stakeholders, end-to-end delivery of low-latency, cloud-native solutions, establishing engineering standards, guiding architecture and integration strategies, driving cloud adoption, creating technology roadmaps, and providing governance for delivery and maintainability. Requires 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years leading engineering teams, expertise in Java and Spring, cloud technologies, influencing across matrixed organizations, and ability to integrate AI-driven solutions into workflows. Preferred qualifications include code-level experience and prior Payments domain knowledge such as tokenization.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
- 10+ years of applied software engineering experience
- 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams
- Experience leading large engineering organizations and delivering a critical product area
- Extensive experience designing and building cloud-native, distributed systems with high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability using Java and Spring
- Working knowledge of cloud technologies and modern software/product engineering methods and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to influence across matrixed organizations and deliver outcomes at scale
- Experience balancing competing priorities by aligning product needs with technical capacity, feasibility, and roadmap considerations
- Ability to communicate programming models, systems, and APIs effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to integrate AI-driven solutions into software engineering workflows to optimize development efficiency, automate tasks, and elevate product quality
- Previous experience in the payments domain is a plus
