Job Summary

Lead feature teams in Glasgow, overseeing project delivery, task coordination, and the design, development, test, and deployment of software products using diverse technologies. Ensure software quality, reliability, security, and performance through best practices while establishing governance for agentic AI-enabled engineering and SDLC/TLM automation to drive measurable improvements in speed and operational outcomes. Mentor engineers, collaborate with stakeholders to deliver user-focused solutions, and evaluate new technologies and methodologies. Document issues, resolve bugs efficiently, and create technical documentation. Apply cloud-native architecture knowledge and expertise in Scala, Java, and Python to support capacity unlock initiatives at scale.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field
  • Fluency in cloud-native architecture and design across systems
  • Strategic thinking and passion for business strategy and processes
  • Ability to make sound architecture decisions based on enterprise principles and operational characteristics
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders
  • Functional and object-oriented programming skills with expertise in Scala, Java, and Python, and open-source frameworks such as Apache Spark
  • Familiarity with software engineering and project management tools such as Git, Jira, and Agile
  • Experience leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled engineering practices (using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment) across teams, including defining operating expectations (human-in-the-loop validation, quality gates), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of sensitive inputs/outputs
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, resiliency/security implications, and governance; ability to influence leaders on safe scaling patterns and reuse
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Databricks
  • Experience with data analysis and machine learning tools and frameworks
  • Certifications in software engineering, project management, or related fields
  • Experience building on emerging cloud serverless managed services
  • Experience implementing security solutions for data storage and processing in the cloud
