Job Summary
Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase leads a technical area across departments, driving scalable, low-latency banking applications and delivering enterprise-grade solutions. Responsibilities include governance of coding decisions and cost-of-ownership measures, delivering reusable technical solutions across multiple businesses, influencing senior stakeholders, and championing diversity and inclusion while guiding teams and initiatives across global, distributed environments. The role demands hands-on expertise with Java, Spring, JMS, REST/WSDL Webservices, JSON and Swagger, both SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud-native architectures, microservices, DevOps, Agile/Scrum, and CI/CD practices, as well as experience with AWS/Azure and large-scale enterprise platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
- 10+ years applied experience
- 5+ years of experience leading technologists
- Deep expertise in core banking systems, payment processing, regulatory requirements, and financial services technology best practices
- Strong hands-on engineering foundation in Java, Spring, JMS, Webservices integration patterns leveraging JSON, Swagger
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL technologies (Oracle, Cassandra, Cockroach, Hadoop, Snowflake)
- Proficient with modern frameworks, microservices architecture, cloud-native technologies, and DevOps practices
- Experience in Agile/Scrum, CI/CD pipelines, and SDLC
- Cloud deployments with AWS, Azure
- Proven track record leading complex, multi-workstream initiatives with distributed global teams
- Exceptional stakeholder management across time zones and cultures
