Job Summary

Own the preparation and drafting of 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and annual proxy in accordance with US GAAP and SEC requirements, ensuring accurate business updates, MD&A, and financial statements. Develop and maintain SEC reporting policies, procedures, and internal controls that scale in a newly public high-growth environment while managing external audit relationships and leading audit readiness processes. Own technical accounting for equity compensation, income tax, and new contract evaluations, preparing or supervising specialist memos for completeness and accuracy. Administer the company's equity plan, manage annual income tax requirements, and optimize the equity administration system. Assist in hiring and developing the accounting and finance team as the company scales.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience
  • CPA
  • Strong knowledge of public company requirements, including SEC reporting, internal controls (SOX), financial planning, and cross-functional alignment
  • Deep technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP), including equity compensation (ASC 718), income tax (ASC 740), R&D accruals, clinical trial accounting, and pre-clinical/clinical stage company financials
  • Experience managing Big 4 or national firm audits
  • Excellent judgment, high integrity, and the ability to operate with minimal overhead in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and remain comfortable with change and ambiguity
  • Flexible, proactive, and hands-on mindset with a roll-up-your-sleeves, can-do attitude

Desired Qualifications

  • public accounting background
  • Prior experience supporting or executing a public offering (IPO, follow-on, crossover)
  • Demonstrated experience building finance and accounting infrastructure from the ground up in preparation for and through a biotechnology IPO
