Director of Sales - The Nell New York

Job Summary

Lead the commercial launch and ongoing revenue performance for The Nell New York, a luxury property opening in Rockefeller Center in Fall 2027. Build transient, group, and events pipelines, contract anchor corporate accounts, and activate key consortia to meet on-the-books targets before opening. Following launch, manage and mentor the sales team to exceed revenue and profitability goals while serving as the primary commercial representative to luxury travel advisors and global consortia. Develop personal and team sales strategies, execute guestroom and onsite event tactics, and analyze competitor data to drive occupancy and RevPAR growth. Facilitate weekly sales strategy meetings and lead training on sales and property management platforms. This pre-opening leadership role reports to the Hotel General Manager and Vice President of Sales, with a salary range of $170,000 - $200,000 and a bonus opportunity. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, hotel or restaurant management
  • 7 years of related industry experience
  • 4 years previous experience as Director of Sales at an ultra-luxury urban hotel property (ADR $1,200+) at a 5-star/5-diamond level
  • New York City market experience
  • 3 years in people leadership
  • Pre-opening hotel experience
  • demonstrated success building a group pipeline

  • Established relationships within luxury consortia and TA communities
  • Proficiency in analyzing operational and financial data to guide improvement and innovation
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Delphi, HMS-Infor
  • Results oriented with a proven track record in driving RevPAR
  • Excellent verbal and written English language skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with a team
  • Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop large, diverse teams
  • Capability to analyze complex situations, develop strategic initiatives, and execute solutions effectively
  • Strong ability to interact with guests, team members, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and relationship-building
  • Strong ability to develop annual revenue budget along with personal and team sales goals and strategies and ensure annual budgeted revenue goals are achieved or exceeded
  • Ability to work collaboratively & effectively with cross-functional leaders and their teams
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours and days
  • Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time
