Job Summary
Lead enterprise safety strategy, operational risk reduction, and environmental compliance across 38 locations, ensuring adherence to OSHA, DOT, EPA, and MSHA standards. Manage insurance programs, claims strategy, and broker relationships while directing serious-incident response, investigations, and corrective actions. Oversee safety training, audits, emergency preparedness, and driver/contractor safety initiatives to drive accountability and performance. Advise executive and operational leaders on risk mitigation and facilities projects, managing budgets and tracking key metrics to reduce claims costs. Requires 30–40% travel including overnight trips, with availability for on-call response during incidents or regulatory matters.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field
- Minimum seven years of progressive safety, environmental, insurance, claims, or operational risk leadership experience
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to satisfy Altorfer's fleet eligibility requirements
- No more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years
- No major violations within the past 5 years
- Travel of approximately 30–40%, including overnight travel
- Availability outside normal business hours when serious incidents, regulatory matters, or business needs require leadership response
- Ability to safely access and move through office, service, warehouse, yard, and jobsite environments
- Ability to use required personal protective equipment, which may include safety glasses, safety footwear, gloves, hearing protection, and high-visibility apparel
Desired Qualifications
- Ten or more years of progressive safety, environmental, insurance, claims, or operational risk leadership experience
- Experience leading multi-site operations, driving safety culture, and influencing leaders and employees across all levels of the organization
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and risk management principles
- DOT, EPA, MSHA, state requirements, and industrial hygiene experience
- Experience managing insurance programs, broker/carrier relationships, claims strategy, litigation trends, and return-to-work programs
- Experience in heavy equipment, construction, industrial, manufacturing, transportation, rental, dealership, or similar field-based operations
- Professional certification such as CSP, ARM, CPCU, CIH, or CRIS
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, analytical, organizational, and change-management skills
- Ability to interpret regulations, prepare clear policies and reports, deliver executive-level presentations, and use data to guide decisions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant safety, claims, and compliance systems
