Job Summary
Direct the Safety and Security department for Gwinnett County Public Schools, overseeing security procedures, emergency planning, and compliance with federal/state regulations; manage safety personnel, develop and update crisis plans, coordinate with local and federal authorities, ensure proper incident and accident reporting, and maintain law enforcement relationships and district safety records. Requires extensive leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with strong emphasis on emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, and public safety within a large school district.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field Required
- Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Required
- Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T.) certification required within 1 Year Required
- 10+ years related experience Required
- 5 years of command level experience in modern law enforcement with progressive responsibility in a variety of police functions, including supervisory experience Required
- Maintain state certification requirements as a Police Agency Required
- Maintain effective communication with local law enforcement agencies to resolve safety and security issues within the schools and school district Required
- Plan, organize, and direct the maintenance of records related to safety and security of schools and the school district Required
