Job Summary
Oversee Guest Services, Housekeeping, Laundry, Security, Communications, and Reservations to maximize room revenue and productivity while developing staff. Respond to all guest requests, complaints, and accidents; motivate, coach, and discipline Rooms Division personnel; conduct interviews and support recruiting. Monitor oversold dates, analyze rate variance, and review daily house counts to optimize occupancy. Tour operating departments daily, conduct weekly division meetings, and prepare department heads for succession. Coordinate major projects, manage labor expenses through schedule approval, and ensure compliance with SOPs, Service Standards, and corporate policies. Carry a pager at all times and operate the Front Office computer system for reporting and analysis.
Required Qualifications
- At least 6 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
- 4-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience
- 2-year college degree and 4 or more years of related experience
- Previous management experience
- Proficiency in Windows
- Proficiency in Company approved spreadsheets
- Proficiency in word processing
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written
- Ability to listen to, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
- Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Ability to handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
- Ability to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Ability to carry a pager at all times
- Ability to operate pagers and radios efficiently and professionally
- Ability to maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards
- Ability to maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Ability to comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
- Ability to maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions
- Ability to maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly
- Ability to attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
- Ability to participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
