Job Summary
Director of Research & Development to lead a multidisciplinary R&D team in Cresilon’s on-site Brooklyn facility, overseeing development of hemostatic medical devices for animal health and human markets. Responsibilities include guiding technology strategy, initiating and managing concept to launch programs, technology transfer and scale-up, ensuring compliance with SOPs and FDA regulations, managing budgets and timelines, fostering cross-functional collaboration, developing and protecting IP, and leading recruitment and development of scientific staff. Requires extensive experience in polymer materials or related complex materials, proven leadership across multiple projects, strong communication, and ability to drive a regulated product development lifecycle from concept through regulatory submission to commercial launch.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline
- 10+ years of direct management experience
- 10+ years of experience in developing and utilizing polymer materials, chemistries, or other complex materials toward product/application development and their manufacture
- Demonstrated success leading projects from early development through stage-gate milestones, regulatory submission, and commercial launch
- Experience developing and commercializing products in a highly regulated environment
- Hands-on research experience with materials chemistry, polymers, adhesives, coatings, biomaterials, naturally-derived materials
- Demonstrated experience in Project Management and Product Lifecycle Management
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Travel up to 20% (domestic and international)
- Legal authorization to work in the United States
