Job Summary
Director of R&D leads product development for plant-based food products, partners with 3rd party suppliers and co-manufacturers, and collaborates across functions to drive top-line growth, efficiency, and product uniqueness. The role requires ownership of the development process, subject-matter expertise in R&D across NORAM and related geographies, attraction and retention of R&D talent, and collaboration with ML and research teams on improvement projects. Strong leadership, negotiation, cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decision making, and the ability to travel at least 30% are essential. Proficiency with MS Office (Excel) and a strategic, entrepreneurial mindset are highly valued.
Required Qualifications
- 10 or more years of progressive R&D experience in plant-based food products including successful execution of plant-based food products
- Bachelor’s degree in food engineering, food science or a similar discipline
- Master’s degree or MBA a plus
- experience in working with ingredient suppliers and co-manufacturers
- experience in a consumer food company; startup experience preferred
- ability to create new procedures and processes from scratch; entrepreneurial mindset
- strong negotiation, presentation and relationship-building skills
- excellent presentation and influencing skills
- strong planning, project management, and execution skills; ability to articulate usage of these skills
- rigorous data-driven/analytical capability and ability to present data to leadership
- demonstrated leadership ability and ability to work in cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
- ability to travel
- Authorization to work in the US required
