Job Summary
Director of Purchasing leading all purchasing, procurement, production scheduling, and inventory control within a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment. Oversees supplier performance, budget management, and cross-functional coordination to balance production demands with resource availability, improving delivery execution and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include developing sourcing strategies, monitoring supplier performance, negotiating supplier agreements, developing and maintaining production schedules, coordinating material deliveries, and driving inventory accuracy and cycle counts. The role requires hands-on leadership, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams to support manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Experience leading purchasing, production control, scheduling, and materials management functions within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory control, and production planning processes
- Experience working within precision manufacturing, tooling, machining, or industrial manufacturing environments preferred
- Proven ability to negotiate supplier agreements and manage vendor relationships
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and operate with urgency in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing planning tools preferred
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing leadership experience
