Job Summary
Director of Purchasing leads procurement, contract administration, and vendor management for San Bernardino County Purchasing Department. Oversees procurement activities across divisions including Printing Services, Mail/Courier Services, and Surplus Property and Storage Operations; ensures compliance with policy and legal requirements; maintains supplier relationships and drives value for a budget over $20 million. The ideal candidate will blend political acumen with practical, hands-on leadership, presenting to elected officials, the community, and vendors, and will be a strategic, solutions-oriented problem solver who maintains transparency and ethical standards. Required qualifications include a BA/BS degree, at least five years of purchasing experience with three in management (or five years in progressively responsible government procurement management), and a C.P.M. certification (or ability to obtain within three years). Salary range reflects annual compensation of $148,158 to $209,914. EEO/ADA.

- Certified Purchasing Management (C.P.M.) certification or ability to obtain C.P.M. within three years of hire
