Job Summary
Lead the development of Childswork's HR function across three Portland campuses; establish policies, processes, workflows, and documentation; oversee employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, payroll and benefits administration; manage equity and DEI initiatives; serve as internal HR leader and strategic partner to Executive Director; coach managers, investigate workplace concerns, and ensure legal compliance; build and implement policies and training across a growing, multi-campus organization; maintain confidential records and support a positive, inclusive school culture through hands-on leadership and in-person presence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education Administration, Business, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience including payroll, benefits, recruitment
- Direct responsibility and experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, and HR policy development
- Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance, including Oregon-specific requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
- Proven ability to establish culture and coach supervisors/managers through performance and personnel matters
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll platforms (e.g., Gusto, ADP, Paychex, Rippling, or similar)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, written, and presentation skills
- Access to reliable personal transportation and ability to work across multiple Portland campuses
- Ability to complete Criminal Background Registry check, Oregon Registry application, and fingerprinting (costs covered by Childswork)
