Job Summary
Lead the execution of origination strategy by identifying opportunities for capacity contracts, tolls, and hedges in target markets like SPP, ERCOT, and CAISO. Develop new and existing customer relationships with utilities, trading firms, and corporate buyers to secure long-term agreements supporting GridStor's energy storage development portfolio. Structure and negotiate complex revenue contracts while managing bid strategies, proposal preparation, and approval materials in tandem with cross-functional teams including development, finance, and legal. Maintain the deal status pipeline and represent the company at national energy events as a speaker and industry leader.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 10 years of experience in energy industry
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in power origination
- Solid track record of success in a development or sales capacity in the clean energy sector securing longterm power sale agreements on renewable energy projects with utilities and corporations
- Demonstrated ability to lead, structure, negotiate, coordinate, and execute power sale agreements together with internal and external advisors
- Knowledge of the electric utility industry and electric energy markets
- Working knowledge of Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) operations, electric transmission, power generation and storage technologies in either SPP and ERCOT or CAISO and WECC
- Strong sales, networking, leadership, negotiation, and time management skills
- Strong understanding of power markets including regulatory frameworks, market dynamics, and pricing mechanisms
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze market data, assess risks and make informed decisions
- Ability to prepare marketing materials, presentations and proposal materials needed to pitch origination opportunities to customers
- Demonstrated transaction experience with the ability to motivate cross-functional deal teams
- Preference for candidates located in Portland, Oregon, San Francisco, California, or Denver, Colorado
- Must be able to travel to Portland for quarterly all hands
- Exceptional organizational abilities with keen attention to detail
- Strong track record of excellent judgment and integrity in previous roles
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Adaptable, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and approach challenges with a creative, proactive mindset
- Highly motivated to support and collaborate with team members, contributing to collective success
Desired Qualifications
- Experience preferably in gas or renewable energy
- Working knowledge of MISO/PJM
- Demonstrated book of customers in their geographic location
