Job Summary
Director of Nutrition Services responsible for managing the school district’s child nutrition program in accordance with Opaa! policies and government regulations; acts as liaison between Opaa! and the school district; oversees kitchen staff, ensures food quality, safety, HACCP, and compliance; manages production records, meal reimbursements, inventory, and cost per meal; leads weekly Kitchen Managers meetings, conducts daily huddles, and coordinates meals transportation to satellite buildings; oversees hiring/onboarding, staff development, performance management, scheduling, HR compliance, and participation/cooperation with district wellness initiatives; maintains relationships with principals, district liaison, LEA, and Board of Education; ensures adherence to USDA standards, HR policies, labor laws, and safety protocols; supports marketing and community catering within cost parameters; drives participation and efficiency through data-driven management; promotes Opaa!’s core values and a customer-service focus within the district meal program.
Required Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED minimally required (USDA Professional Standards)
- Minimum of three years of relevant food service experience; one year with an associate’s degree
- Minimum 1 year in customer service/hospitality role
- Minimum 1-year supervisory experience (preferred)
- Working knowledge of kitchen functions and equipment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions
- Ability to adjust recipes and interpret instructions
- Ability to identify and resolve food service and customer relationship issues
