Job Summary
Manage meal service functions and inventory for the shelter, overseeing the Food Pantry in Moorhead and coordinating with the CEO and Leadership Team. Direct the Lead Chef on food ordering and supply management while ensuring volunteers receive appropriate safe preparation and serving temperature training. Maintain Serve Safe certifications, kitchen equipment, and compliance with health inspection recommendations. Collaborate with vendors to secure products for the food scarcity mission and track statistics on meals served. Participate in annual budget development and goals planning. This full-time role includes weekdays, some evenings, weekends, and on-call rotation. Direct reports include the Kitchen Manager and Food Pantry Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent customer service, communication, troubleshooting, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Able to reach, bend, stoop, or frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- Must have exceptional hygiene and grooming habits following CDC guidelines for handwashing & glove use
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to individual struggles with homelessness, poverty, substance abuse, mental illness, and criminal records.
- Ability to take initiative and to work both cooperatively with a team and independently.
- Knowledge of harm reduction, strength-based, and behavior-based models.
Desired Qualifications
- minimum of 2 years applicable experience preferably in social service setting with people in crisis.
