Job Summary
Direct the overall operation of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with federal, state, and local standards to ensure the highest degree of quality care. Develop, implement, and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program, participating in facility surveys and assisting the Quality Assessment & Assurance Committee in correcting deficiencies. Assign sufficient licensed practical and registered nurses and certified nursing assistants for each tour of duty, making daily rounds to ensure personnel perform assignments per acceptable standards. Monitor absenteeism, review nurses' notes for accuracy, and oversee medication passes and treatment schedules. Participate in resident admission screening, discharge planning, and various facility committees as required. This role requires a current active RN license and two years of experience as a DON/ADON in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
Required Qualifications
- MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING AS A DON or ADON in a licensed Skilled Nursing Facility
- Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university
- Must have two years of experience as a DON/ADON in a Skilled Nursing Facility
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in this state
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies
- Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care
- Working knowledge of Title XXII and OBRA, HCFA, Chapter 3, state and federal regulations pertaining to skilled nursing facilities, Medicare, Medi-Cal
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in a variety of circumstances and make sound judgments
- Must be able to perform the essential physical requirements of the job
