Director of Nursing Services

Job Summary

Direct, plan, and coordinate nursing service activities for professional and auxiliary personnel to ensure resident care meets fairness, dignity, and respect standards. Develop and implement departmental policies, standards, and long-range plans while monitoring care quality and reviewing progress notes. Complete daily rounds, manage the nursing budget, and serve as a formal liaison between the medical staff and nursing services. Recruit, interview, and evaluate staff performance; coordinate schedules and ensure strict adherence to physician orders, infection control protocols, and safety regulations. Remain on call 24 hours a day for emergencies and notify families of significant health changes.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, college, or university
  • Current registered nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing
  • Knowledgeable of nursing/medical practices and laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long-term care administration
  • Thorough knowledge of licensing and certification regulations
  • Must demonstrate leadership skills

  • Problem-solve
  • Make decisions as necessary
  • Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies
  • Upon hire provide a negative TB skin test

Desired Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in nursing supervision in a long-term care setting
