Job Summary
Lead, manage, and oversee all nursing services and clinical operations for the facility, ensuring care standards are met or exceeded. Develop and maintain clinical policies, protocols, and procedures while ensuring regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including Florida AHCA rules. Oversee staffing by hiring, scheduling, evaluating, and coaching nursing staff, and monitor quality assurance initiatives such as infection control and medication management. Coordinate with interdisciplinary departments to ensure integrated care plans and serve as the primary contact for residents, families, and physicians. Ensure appropriate staff licensing, continuing education, and competency, while managing supplies, equipment, and the nursing department budget. On-call as needed for emergencies; some evenings or weekends depending on facility needs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Florida RN license in good standing
- Minimum of 3–5 years leadership experience as a DON in a skilled nursing facility
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations for long-term care
- Strong knowledge of Florida nursing home laws, rules, staffing mandates, and federal requirements (e.g. CMS, Medicare/Medicaid)
- On-call as needed
- Some evenings or weekends depending on facility needs
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Advanced degree or certifications in leadership/management is a plus
- Minimum 3-5 years of nursing experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility with at least 2 years in a supervisory/management role
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams, handle regulatory surveys, implement change effectively
- Commitment to fostering a culture of respect, integrity, and continuous improvement
