Director of Nursing (DON)

Plan, organize, and evaluate nursing care while directing the nursing department workforce and ensuring cost efficiency. Participate in daily QA meetings, weekly high-risk reviews, and interdisciplinary team discussions. Supervise all nursing activities by making daily rounds, assigning personnel based on resident needs, and conducting performance evaluations. Coordinate nursing services with other departments, manage medication storage, and verify physician orders through a triple-check system. Maintain accurate reporting, ensure supply availability, and address resident and staff safety concerns. Provide guidance to personnel, conduct orientation programs, and assist in staff development and hiring. Communicate daily conditions to the administrator and remain available via telephone with a response time under two hours.
